Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance
As the primary economic development organization for Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County, the Alliance focuses on creating, attracting, expanding and retaining high-wage jobs and capital investment in high value targeted industries, developing more vibrant communities, and improving the quality of life for Broward County’s citizens.
The Four Foundations of its economic development services are:
• Marketing and Promoting Broward County as a leading business location
• Managing Expansion, Relocation and Retention Projects
• Conducting and Providing Market Research & Business Intelligence
• Securing and Enhancing Private/Public Leadership & Investment
Composition: The Board of Directors, shall be elected or appointed as hereinafter provided, and shall be comprised of:
(a) all of the Executive Committee Members;
(b) one (1) individual Director appointed by the School Board of Broward County (“School Board”);
(c) the director of the Office of Economic and Small Business Development, Broward County;
(d) the Chair of the Broward County Small Business Development Advisory Board or designee;
(e) eight (8) individuals selected by the Leadership Council;
(f) five (5) individuals selected by the Partner’s Council;
(g) requesting members of the CEO Council;
(h) requesting members of the Governor Council;
(i) no more than nine (9) individual Industry Specific Directors appointed to represent industries as determined by the Board;
(j) ten (10) At Large Members elected by a simple majority of the Board of Directors; and
(k) Additional Board Members (10) shall be comprised of: (1) the Broward College President; (2) the Broward County Administrator; (3) Chair, Broward Workshop; (4) SFRPC Executive Director; (5) GFLCVB President; (6) Leadership Broward President/Executive Director; (7) WorkForce One President; (8) Broward Center for Performing Arts President; (9) the Superintendent of the Broward County Schools; and (10) the Broward County Council of Chambers designated representative.
Created by contract with the Broward County Commission commencing 10/1/06 and terminating 9/30/10.
